Feathered Friends is an exotic bird and animal rescue, rehabilitation, education, and adoption shelter. We provide a safe place for parrots and other animals that need to be rehomed due to unfortunate circumstances. Most of them were loved dearly and cared for, and when that was no longer possible, their companion-people made the most selfless act of kindness in finding them a good home.

Until then, we offer temporary housing and compassionate care for all birds and animals in need. We educate the public on the proper care of exotic birds and strive to find healthy, happy, and nurturing homes for those eligible for adoption.

There are also occasions when birds or parrots remain with us permanently. This is usually the case when they have behavioural issues, health problems, or require long-term intervention. In such situations, we always act in the bird’s best interest.

With over 15 years of experience caring for birds and parrots, we are dedicated to providing each one with the expertise, understanding, and environment they need to thrive.

We are based in the West Midlands but are able to accept exotic birds from across mainland UK.

Foster & Adoption

If you’re interested in becoming a foster placement or would like to be considered as an adoption home for one of our animals, we’d love to hear from you. Fostering provides a temporary, loving environment for animals while they wait for their forever homes, and it’s a vital part of helping us rescue and rehabilitate more animals in need. Adopting, on the other hand, offers a lifelong commitment to giving an animal a safe, secure, and caring home. Whether you’re looking to foster or adopt, we’ll guide you through the process, including an application, home check, and matching you with an animal that suits your lifestyle. Your support can truly change a life.

NOTE: An agreement will be put in place that the bird / parrot will still be owned by the volunteers at feathered friends retreat. This just offers piece of mind the bird / parrot will never be sold or passed on. And if for whatever reason you can no longer be a foster / adopter the bird will come straight back into our care.

Home Checks

As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the animals in our care, our animal rescue conducts thorough home checks for all potential adopters. These visits allow us to assess the living environment, ensure it is secure and suitable for the specific needs of the animal, and offer advice on how to best prepare for their arrival. Home checks also give us a chance to meet the adopters in person, answer any questions they may have, and ensure that our animals are going to loving, responsible homes. This step is a vital part of our adoption process and helps us give each animal the best possible chance at a happy, forever home.
